We provide the advice people need for the problems they face; we improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. Whoever they are whatever their problem we challenge discrimination and work for equality for everyone. Our service is both inclusive, with no particular targeted client group, and holistic – we endeavour to explore with clients their issues and address any underlying problems to enable them to move forward. We provide help on a wide range of subjects most notably debt, benefits, employment, housing and relationships. All of the advice is provided free, confidentially, independently, and impartially. We work in partnership with many organisations to ensure the best help is offered.
We have a team of volunteers who are supported by a small paid team they offer advice and information to the public using various channels including phone, email, webchat and face to face.During the recent pandemic we have flexed our working methods and have been working more remotely with clients. The volunteers are our llifeblood spending ours of there time for free helping with more complex issues.
We are fortunate to be funded by our Local Authority and also receive other small grants as well as doing some fundraising ourselves
