Objectives

Citizens Advice Salford aims:

  • To fight poverty in Salford
  • To provide the advice the people of Salford need for the problems they face.
  • To improve the policies and practices that affect their lives.

We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone that approaches us on their rights and responsibilities. We value diversity, we promote equality and challenge discrimination.

We provide advice and information to clients across multiple channels and locations across Salford. We deliver quality assured advice on welfare benefits, debt and money advice, housing and employment and other areas of law from information level to court representation.

Our service delivers real change to our client's lives; we enable clients to remain in their own homes, we challenge benefit decisions and assist people to resolve employment problems. Our money advice team resolve millions of pounds of debt each year and we provide advice in food banks, crisis support in  centres for people who are homeless and work in outreach services for local people in drug and alcohol recovery.

Activities

In order to provide our services we continually strive to develop and improve our volunteer workforce; we seek to provide volunteering opportunities in order that we can provide services to ever increasing numbers of clients but also as we believe very strongly in our ethos of our being a volunteer centred advice service that provides opportunities for growth and skills development to our local community.

Volunteers and paid staff also contribute to our policy and campaigning work - influencing strategies locally and legislation nationally by feeding our client experiences into key stakeholders and decision makers.
