Citizens Advice Luton provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice and campaigns on big issues affecting people’s lives.
Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face.
We value diversity, champion equality, and challenge discrimination and harassment.
We work in line with national Citizens Advice with four key objective areas: Advice, Advocacy, Sustainability and Technology. We work to empower local people and ensure they get the advice they need for the issues they face. We also look to improve the local policies and practices that affect their lives through active research and campaigning.
We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination in our service and employment. We recognise our service must continue to respond to current and future demands and complexities. We will review our delivery continuously to ensure our offer is equitable to all and is based on current and as much as possible anticipated needs.
We also aim to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies both locally and nationally, especially by supporting the national Research and Campaigns initiative and developing our own local R&C projects.
Activities
We provide high quality, free, confidential and impartial advice, information and support to all of those who live or work in Luton, regardless of race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religious belief or nationality from our office in Community House, through outreach sessions in the community and via various channels. We work in partnership with Luton Borough Council, our other funders and partners to offer the most appropriate help and support for our clients, developing partnerships accordingly.
The purpose of our wide ranging services, which includes specialist as well as general assistance, information and support, covers welfare benefits, housing, employment, relationship breakdown and immigration, is to relieve poverty, promote social cohesion, improve clients’ well being and quality of life. We empower our team of fully trained advisers to treat all clients with dignity and respect and challenge all forms of discrimination. Where inequality exists we look to influence effective change.
