Objectives

Citizens Advice Ipswich, delivers free, quality assured, independent advice and support to local community. In the year April 2023 - March 2024 we helped nearly 10,000 clients who presented us with 37,449 issues.

Our core generalist advice team deliver advice and support on a wide range of issues and assess clients' needs to see if more specialist advice is appropriate.

Charitable support was top of the reasons why were were approached 2,566 clients needing additional support (about 10 a day) this support was provided in a number of ways: Food Bank referrals, Fuel Vouchers and support to access charitable grants. The second most popular reason for accessing our services was 2,507 clients that needed advice with welfare benefits.

 We deliver a considerable number of specialist separately funded projects that add real value to the service we offer our clients.

  • Specialist Welfare Benefits Advice

    We gained £2,565,033 additional income for our clients

  • Specialist Debt Advice

    This team were presented with £4,073,266 worth of debt last year. They wrote of £1,114,806 for clients, undertook 57 Debt Relief orders and 8 bankruptcies 

  • Social Prescribing 

    Our teams worked with all 14 GP surgeries in Ipswich, Ipswich Hospital Long Covid clinic and the REACT team keeping clients out of hospital.

We support all those who need it regardless of age, gender, religion or ability.

 

Activities

We are accessed by the public either by face to face, telephone and email. The core team is largely made up of volunteer advisers, who respond to the visits, telephone calls and emails  assessing the needs of the clients.

We take a whole person approach to helping people, identifying the priority issues being faced, we offer our clients options to address their issues.
