We provide people with the knowledge and advice to help them move forward with their lives whatever the problem.
We help around 9,000 people a year with a wide range of issues such as benefits advice, debt, housing and homelessness, family disputes, consumer issues and employment issues. Some people receive a single piece of advice while others receive detailed advice including assisting them with Benefits Tribunals. We gained nearly £3m in additional income for clients and had £600,000 of their debts written off last year. Post COVID, many families have built up debt, are struggling with employment and income and face housing challenges so the assistance we can give them is even more important this year.
Our advice is given by highly trained volunteers which makes us cost effective. The value of volunteer time contributed to our organisation is well above half a million pounds a year.
We provide initial contact on the phone or by email and face to face appointments when COVID restrictions allow. We run our services from two main offices in Maidenhead and Bracknell and also offer outreach.
Some of our services are targeted at particularly disadvantaged groups such as those with mental health challenges or with severe physical disabilities.
We have recently merged two smaller Citizens Advice Services in order to become more efficient and effective.
