Objectives

Citizens Advice Berkshire is an independent charity which brings together in a Consortium the five Citizens Advice organisations in Berkshire - Bracknell, Maidenhead and Windsor, Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham. Its aim is to secure funding that would not be available to the individual organisations and use it to extend the advice services available to the people of Berkshire, particularly to those in greatest need.

Activities

The five member organisations each serve, and are supported by, their unitary authority. They are governed and managed locally, but they, and the Consortium, are also part of Citizens Advice, a large and influential national organisation. Together they have a substantial body of paid staff and volunteers with a long track record of delivering high quality advice and information across a very wide range of issues, helping people find their own solutions to the problems they face.

Their services are free, confidential, independent and impartial. Collectively they offer information and advice on Benefits and tax credits, Consumer issues, Debt, Discrimination, Employment, Financial Capability, Health and community care, Housing, Immigration, Legal issues, Pensions, and Relationships and Family matters. The service is available face-to-face, by phone and online from a comprehensive website. In a typical year they help over 20,000 clients with over 50,000 problems.
