Objectives

Happy to be Here - To play, learn, care, share and be ourselves

Cippenham Nursery School aims to provide a happy, secure stimulating environment, which will support and challenge the children in their exploration of the world around them. Through play and through interaction with a friendly and knowledgeable adult, the child can further his/her skills and understanding without fear of failing.

Play is children’s work; it is natural, essential and instinctive. Children learn through play. They learn willingly and learn much.

Children learn to co-operate, learn ideas and to express their feelings and frustrations. They learn to fantasize and use their imagination, to imitate, share, to experiment and to explore and communicate with others.

They develop their language and physical skills and learn creative thinking across the curriculum. This basic learning is an essential part of the educational process that goes on, not only in school, but also throughout life.

Activities

The Cippenham Nursery School was first established in 1941.

The Nursery is owned by Slough Borough Council and was rebuilt in 2008. It now shares premises with the St Andrews Way Children's Centre. We make up part of the large campus with Cippenham Infant and Primary Schools.

We are one of the few stand alone Nursery Schools left in the Borough & take children of 3 & 4 years of age only.  We can offer places to children the term after their third birthday if there is space.  We help children get ready for the start of their School journey and Children attend 3 hours per day, either mornings or afternoons, five days a week.  There are 78 children in the morning and 78 children in the afternoon.

We are staffed by fully qualified teachers, nursery practioners and teaching assistants. There is a ratio of one qualified member of staff to every 7 children.

The Nursery School is open for normal school terms. There is no charge for attendance and each child receive 15 hours per week funded education. We also have a Healthy Lunchclub available for a fee.

We follow the EYFS & have recently been Ofsted Graded as Good. Cippenham Nursery not only nurtures children's literacy and numeracy skills we also pride ourselves on the many extracurricular activities available. We have a school mini-bus for trips, a professional football coach & many cooking & creative opportunities.
