Chrysalis Montessori endeavours to gather parents and carers that would like to discover the Montessori principles in a community. Regular playgroup sessions are run in a private location in Crouch End. They have a limited number of spaces in order to create a cozy atmosphere where both children and adults can have quality interactions with each other. These are not designed as what we have come to know as ‘baby classes’. Chrysalis Montessori is dedicated to freedom of choice from the beginning of life, so, in the sessions, careful observation will be made of the children and the environment will be prepared for the children’s current interests. It is therefore important to know that a one-off class is probably insufficient in order to see the unfolding of a particular learning journey. The environment is prepared using high-quality natural materials, some of which are designed by Montessori herself, some, using inspiration from the Montessori method. Your understanding of the Montessori philosophy might vary, and some parents have read and learned more about it. We shall be kind to one another and commit to supporting each other.
A carefully prepared environment for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old and a gentle introduction to Montessori philosophy for parents interested in learning more. There are 2 highly qualified practitioners so parents can ask questions during the session and we will happily bring info on the next sessions. We provide a playful setting with quality natural materials for babies and toddlers, where they are free to roam, play and socialise with others. The sessions are loosely structured as follows: 1. Free play: we want children to be able to choose their activities freely for as long as possible during the sessions. Your presence is important, however, this is also an opportunity to step back and observe what your child is naturally inclined to choose. 2. Snack time: we provide a healthy snack (a selection of fruits, rice, oat or corn cakes) older children are welcome to help with the preparation. We think of this as an educational experience, where children can use open cups and shell plates. 3: story/song time: this is a short moment in the session, where everyone comes together and it’s a great way to say goodbye to one another. We give parents a weekly leaflet with a different theme at the end. This contains informative content related to early childhood, inspired by the Montessori philosophy.
