Objectives

ChoraChori rescues trafficked and displaced Nepali children from India, rehabilitates them and, ideally returns them to their families. We are unique in mounting cross border operations to find Nepal's lost children and bring them home.

Activities

  • We rescue trafficked and displaced Nepali children from India as our core activity. In the very near future this will extend to rescuing girls from brothels.
  • We operate a transit refuge and trauma management centre in Kathmandu where children's circumstances can be assessed. We provide for physical and mental health needs. In respect of the latter we have a particular interest in art therapy
  • Our field teams reunite children with their families following field visits to ensure that the domestic circumstances are suitable
  • If children cannot be reunited (around 20% of returnees) we provide for their long term care, protection, education and training. We will continue to look after these children until they can look after themselves as young adults
  • We provide support to education projects in NepalĀ
  • We support disaster relief and recovery. In 2015 this support followed the earthquakes of April/May while in 2017 we have responded to the floods
  • We support our programmes and development of organisational capacity in Nepal through providing grants and volunteers
