To help young people towards responsible adulthood and to encourage them to reach their potential by developing valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct, using a nautical theme based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy.

Chippenham Sea Cadets is a charity for youth development and lifelong learning. The unit is formed solely by volunteers in local community and is a self-supporting, local youth organisation and an independent charity. It is completely funded by subscriptions, donations, grants and fundraising.


The unit which is based by the river provides an indoor and outdoor venue for children to attend 2 parade nights per week as well as a range of activities taking place on weekends and during school holidays including rowing, kayaking, football and camping. Sea cadets provides an opportunity for young people to spend time outdoors, make friends and have fun in a safe & welcoming environment.

Cadets have the opportunity to learn a variety of new skills both on and off the water leading to a number nationally recognized qualifications. In addition to the formal training provided by the unit, there are many opportunities for cadets to develop important life skills including self-discipline, team work, leadership and resilience.
