Objectives

Our Charity was set up in 1987 to champion and promote the health of the Chinese community living in the UK.  Visited by a number of Health Ministers, the organisation is recognised as the expert for Chinese health in this country and a leader in the delivery of health improvement to minority ethnic communities. We have received a number of national awards for the work: the King's Fund & GSK Health Impact Award in1998; Business Excellence Achievement & Mentors Award in 2004, and the London Region Health & Social Care Awards in 2010.

We have received funding from public sector bodies such as the NHS, Local Government, and the Department of Health. We were also the first to be awarded an England-wide Healthy Living Centre grant from the New Opportunities Fund (National Lottery) of £1.2 million in 2000.

Activities

The CNHLC offers various services to the Chinese community, including: bilingual counselling; health walks; Hepatitis B screening, testing and vaccination; Sunday Chinese speaking doctor's surgery; emotional support and wellbeing; tai chi and dance classes.
