Objectives

Children of the Dump works with children growing up around the filth and deprivation of the city rubbish dumps of Manila in the Philippines to ensure that they get an education as an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. For over forty years we have effectively lifted children out of poverty and our impact is visible in the many graduates from our services now working as teachers social workers it engineers and other successful careers.

Activities

We raise funds in the UK to finance our services in Manila where we provide

  1. an early years free school for 200 children  aged 4 and 5 years ( Cashew school),
  2. a scholarship scheme for 200 children and young people providing financial support to the family for study expenses and lost earnings. Most of these students graduate from university or college.
  3. A residential home 25 children and young people  whose family cannot provide a safe home.
  4. Plan fund and develop services in partnership with the scavenger community and ASCF  our sister charity that manages the services in Manila.
