Our vision: All pregnant women and their newborns in Kenya have safer, more informed and better supported care.

Our Approach: At we champion community-based healthcare solutions to make pregnancies and births safer. We partner with government health services to improve demand for and quality of perinatal healthcare in Kenya and beyond, whilst contributing to global health understanding of the causes of, and possible solutions to, perinatal mortality.

Activities’s work is constantly evolving to encompass the maternal and child health needs of the communities in which we are working. Currently (2024), our work revolves around Team Mum: a project which works to improve access to and quality of maternal and child health (MCH) services. To do this, Team Mum works with various stakeholders - community groups, pregnant women, health authorities, partner organisations - to address the challenges which affect maternal and child health in Kenya. These areas of work can be broken in five core themes which can be found below:

  1. Health-seeking behaviour
  2. Quality of services and experience of care
  3. Supportive community and familial structures
  4. Pregnant women empowerment through health information and knowledge
  5. Partnership and relationship-building for improved maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
