Every week, healthy children are killed, disabled or disfigured in accidents that are completely preventable. In fact, accidents are one of the biggest killers of children in the UK, second only to cancer, and a leading cause of hospital admissions and acquired disability.
Our mission is to reduce the number of children who are killed, disabled or
seriously injured in preventable accidents, in order to improve life outcomes for
children, reduce the trauma for families, and reduce the costs to the state and
families of life-changing injuries that require long-term care.
We make a difference by:
We use our skills in community education to engage with families, spreading knowledge, changing attitudes and behaviour, and encouraging local communities to take action to make children safer.
We take our knowledge and skills to the frontline of family support, by providing expert advice on accident prevention to staff who work with parents and children in their local communities.
We also provide a centre of specialist knowledge on child accident prevention for other charities, local and central government, the NHS, companies, trade associations and standards bodies.
