Cherished is an organisation passionate about empowering and supporting Girls from 8-16 years old. We aim to unveil the true potential and unique value of every girl we work with, through acceptance, care and love. We offer the Cherished course in schools to groups of girls who need that boost in confidence and worth. Not only do we offer our group work sessions in schools we have a highly successful mentoring programme which is delivered by female volunteers who commit their time to supporting a girl once a week. Out of the school contact we hold girls community groups, fundraising events and family activities.
We offer a 'one stop shop' service which addresses the needs of the girls that we work with in a holistic way. Cherished is focused upon responding to each girls’ needs on an individual basis, ensuring that those needs are at the heart of all that we do. We are an expanding organisation and we aim to achieve a service which is known within the community and amongst professionals for empowering young girls to value themselves and succeed, helping to change views of gender related issues within the community. We do this by working together as a team of women who are totally girl focused and by celebrating our reputation as a safe space for girls to be listened to and where their voice is our priority.
Girls are referred to our service by schools, parents or carers, or other professionals and they start the Cherished journey as set out above and the period of support depends on their specific individual needs. We achieve these objectives through various means which include 1-2-1 bespoke mentoring support, small group courses delivered in schools, one-off events and conferences.
