Chard WATCH reaches out and engages with isolated adults needing support. Anyone that joins the project can become a member and contribute to running the organisation democratically.
We give members an elevated sense of confidence and empowerment by enabling them to take their own positive steps. Change comes from within and we help people fulfil their potential through workshops and activities like: art, reading, drama, personal awareness courses, IT, and most importantly peer relationships.
Founded in 2010 by peer members, we have built the project around our lived experience to help reach out and engage with other isolated and lonely people in the community. Members say that WATCH improves their confidence, makes them feel empowered, has introduced them to new friends and enabled them to take their own positive steps.
People that join us can expect to form new connections and feel a greater sense of belonging in their community.
WATCH is a Community Interest Company (CIC). This means that everything we do must be for the benefit of the community. At WATCH, our focus is on creating an environment to allow our members to reach their potential in their own way. We are organised as a co-operative meaning that anyone who does benefit in this way has a right to become a member and all members, and only members, run WATCH democratically.
WATCH hosts a series of events and courses to benefit our members and the local community. Every week WATCH opens a centre for our members to come and socialise and build peer friendships while enjoying a hot meal. WATCH also hosts online forums to reach members who live outside of the local area and also for those who are unable to make it into the project. On top of this WATCH specialises in offering peer friendship courses to organisations and members of the public while also hosting various well being courses for our members providing valuable skills.
