Objectives

CHANGE is a leading national human rights organisation led by Disabled People. We have been running for 22 years working both nationally and internationally. CHANGE employs people with learning disabilities to co lead on all of our projects on equal salaries to their non learning disabled peers.

Services

We have a range of resources to help you make information accessible for people with learning disabilities.

We have a range of training courses and a consulting service to support organisations and businesses to become more accessible and inclusive for people with learning disabilities. All of our training is co-delivered by experienced trainers with learning disabilities. We can adapt each course to suit your needs.

We create bespoke accessible information in Easy Read and video formats for organisations all over the world. Our designers co-produce accessible information with our Words to Pictures Team, formed of people with learning disabilities trained in making Easy Read. Co-production from start to finish ensures that we produce information that is easier for people with learning disabilities to understand.

We work on a variety of projects funded by external organisations and government departments that influence national policy, facilitate systemic change and open opportunities for the inclusion of people with learning disabilities. In line with our co-working model, projects are co-led by employees with learning disabilities who provide unique expertise.

Activities

We are committed to creating employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities in skilled jobs.

CHANGE operates on a co-working model which means employees with learning disabilities work alongside non-learning disabled colleagues with equal job responsibility and on equal pay.

Employees with learning disabilities co-run projects, co-deliver training and co-create accessible information. Our volunteers with learning disabilities quality check accessible information and provide website and access audits. This ensures the views of people with learning disabilities are represented which enriches our understanding of the barriers and how to address them.

We work on a local, national and international level which gives us a global perspective and knowledge of innovative ways to influence legislative and perspective change.

As a not for profit organisation, all the money we make from sales of our products and services help us to continue building opportunities for people with learning disabilities to participate equally in society and lead change.
