Change for Good is a resettlement charity based in London. We provide community and support through expert staff, volunteers and lived experience groups to prison leavers from HMP Brixton, HMP Ford, HMP Wandsworth and HMP Wormwood Scrubs. We do this in 4 ways: pre-release support, our through the gate programme, mentoring in the community and our peer support group, Next Chapter. Our vision is that everyone leaving prison is enabled to transform their lives and flourish.

Our one-to-one mentoring programme is at the core of what we do and is delivered by trained volunteer mentors in the community. Volunteers usually work with a mentee for up to 6 months, providing signposting, practical assistance and ongoing support with the rehabilitation pathways, recognised key areas in reducing reoffending. We aim to empower and enable our mentees; this may be done through a focus on housing, education, employment and addiction issues, depending on individual circumstances. Throughout the relationship, mentors encourage personal change, self-confidence and resilience. Mentors are supervised and supported by staff and offered training and peer support.

Next Chapter is a weekly support group for those living in the community where the participants set the agenda. The group is run by the men themselves who become positive influences on each other and provide mutual support. It aims to reduce isolation, equip participants with life skills and be a strong community for the men to belong to.
