Objectives

Challenge Wales is a predominantly volunteer run charity which aims to help young people aged 12 - 25 years to develop their life skills and employability skills through innovative learning at sea. Using our vessels; Challenge Wales and Adventure Wales young people will develop their teamwork and communication skills, their knowledge of STEM subjects and ocean literacy, confidence, self-esteem and resilience while improving their mental health. Challenge Wales works with young people who are unemployed, in school or college, young carers, those in the care system, those who are at risk of being homeless, those on low incomes, those at university or in employment.

Activities

Sail training provides an opportunity for learning through taking young people to sea. While onboard our vessels they will, through the medium of sailing, learn about teamwork and leadership, confidence and communication, ocean literacy and the world around them. Challenge Wales provides accredited learning opportunities through Agored Cymru, and offers the John Muir [Enviornmental] Award, the DofE Gold Residential Award and Royal Yachting Association qualifications.
