Wize Up Thurrock is an outreach service which specialise in working with children, young people under 18 years, and families offering tailored advice, information and holistic support in reducing/abstaining from drugs, alcohol and substances. This includes working with Children/Young People who may be affected by parental/carer’s substance misuse. Wize-Up also provides education and awareness for Young People who may be on the edge of using substances so they can make informed decisions.
Wizeup provides Hidden Harm/interventions to children and young people in 1-2-1 settings in creative ways to promote engagement, build resilience and provide an outlet, e.g. play games, write poetry, draw pictures etc; this supports young people's emotional wellbeing.
Wizeup work in collaboration with local partners to meet the needs of children and young people, our hidden harm worker leads on joint work with social workers and we engage in child protection/child in need conferences. CGL Wize-Up also offers sexual health support (give out condoms to young people, signpost them to sexual health clinic if need be). The service also act as a gateway to other services.
CGL Wizeup Thurrock works in partnership with the local authority and receives statutory funding which helps to provide specialised services for young people who have been affected by substance, drugs and alcohol.
