Objectives

CATH are a locally based charity providing support to those who are homeless or under threat of homelessness throughout the Perth and Kinross area with the provision of a Hostel, Day Centre, Floating Support team and Outreach team. The support is open to males and females over the age of 16 who are deemed to be vulnerable and at risk. One of CATH’s predominant strengths is in our ability to work on a high tolerance basis with service users who may have become disengaged and may still be addressing issues requiring a range of intense support elements. CATH over 25 years have forged progressive working relationships with other agencies and support providers including statutory services in an effort to ensure that we cover all areas of need for our service users. We work to achieve continuity of support which is essential for those who are hardest to reach and this promotes a strong message of our commitment to each individual service user. Our commitment to our service user group also helps maintain and sustain that engagement which has proven to provide greater degrees of positive outcomes and the opportunity for the service user to become the expert in their own recovery. Our objective is to break down barriers destroy stigmatism and offer opportunities and guidance by showing positive pathways for future development.

Activities

Our Outreach team offers support, advice and guidance to those who are in crisis and need emergency support, CATH hostel can provide the emergency accommodation combining that with the support of trained development workers who can help identify needs and prioritise the meeting of those needs to effect the best possible outcomes. Floating or Tenancy Support can continue with the provision of support required while accommodated in your own tenancy thereby providing a safety net whilst service users become accustomed to independent living. The Day Centre is a drop in project where service users can access advice, low cost meals, laundry and washing facilities and social contact with others. The Literacy project is located at the Day Centre and will support those whose journey to independent living can be jeopardised by their inability to understand and manage correspondence. CATH volunteering and befriending programme offers additional support to those who may face social isolation within a community by forming a trusting relationship and subsequent reintegration with community support.
