Geographical remit:

The purpose of the museum is to maintain a base for the exhibition of local objects for the benefit and use of the inhabitants of and visitors to Billericay and the surrounding area. The museum's aim is to foster within the community an appreciation and understanding of local history and the town's heritage. We are the only museum in a town brimming with fascinating history!

The museum runs a small outreach programme concentrating on areas of the community who may be unable to access the museum.

Assisting users with research requests, in particular genealogical research.

Providing information to schools and providing services to local after school groups as well as adult educational groups.

Continued projects to catalogue the museum's collections which in turn broadens our capacity for improved research opportunities, improved exhibitions and facilitates a greater understanding of local history.

Taking part and offering our services and spaces for events organised by local groups, such as the Billericay Art Trail.
