Objectives

The Catalyst Collective is a start-up volunteering organisation. We believe that mentoring can be a powerful intervention in the lives of young women. We recruit, train, match and support young professional Black women with Black teenagers for year-long mentoring relationships.

Activities

  • The Catalyst Mentoring Programme matches mentors with Black teenage girls, aged 15-18.
  • We operate a partnership model, working with secondary schools or extra-curricular organisations to recruit cohorts of mentees.
  • Mentoring takes place for a minimum of 1 hour per month for 1 academic year. Where both mentors and mentees have more availability, they can meet more frequently.
  • Mentoring takes place either virtually, in person, or a combination.
  • Each mentoring pair is assigned a mentoring coordinator to oversee their progress and act as a point of contact for support or challenges.
