We’ve been around since 2005, now based inside the Courts in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Bodmin and Truro.
We give free, confidential, practical help and emotional support for anyone going through court and into life beyond.
Our system does not always address the root causes of crime. Anyone can end up at court alone, feeling powerless, trapped and terrified. CASS+ is independent of the system, perfectly-placed inside Magistrates’ Courts. We listen and give free practical advice; emotional support; and ongoing help for as long as they want us with them. We can reduce the risk of re-offending by working with our partners to find solutions to the complicated situations people face, especially when it comes to:
- spiralling financial hardship and debt
- homelessness and accommodation
- general wellbeing
- domestic abuse
- substance use
- mental health, including depression and anxiety
- literacy issues
- general court support
- education, training and employment
These are the people we work with:
We don’t do anything in isolation. The courts know and value us for our track record. Our expert advisers collaborate with broad networks, both within and outside of criminal justice, to get people the specialist help they need. We are able to work flexibly with anyone who needs us because we understand the landscape of the criminal justice system and the many solutions available. We reduce the risk of re-offending and improve wellbeing by being here for people at their time of need.
We have hubs inside the Courts in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Bodmin and Truro.
