Objectives

Carers Link Lancashire is a well-established, successful and reputable charity and has been delivering services specifically to carers and indirectly to the people they care for since 2000. We provide a range of support and services to unpaid adult carers living in East Lancashire across the boroughs of Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley and young carers living in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley. At present, the organisation is supporting and has registered with the service 9500 adult carers and 86 young carers who are receiving regular information, support and services.

 

Activities

Our organisation provides a wide range of provision and services to support carers within their roles including:

 

  • Partner of Carers Lancashire – delivering aligned services for carers across Lancashire
  • Identification of carers and hidden carers
  • Undertaking Carers Assessments and commissioning personal budgets in line with the new Care Act - Making outgoing referrals and recommendations to Social Care for commissioned respite
  • 1-2-1 support, both  face to face, over the telephone or via emails
  • 24/7 volunteer peer support helpline
  • Breaks through a wide range of trips, events, activities and complementary therapies to enable regular short breaks and respite from their caring roles
  • Discounted respite/breaks holidays through two carers caravans  in Blackpool and the lake district
  • Peace of Mind for Carers Plan, a contingency plan, enabling free replacement care
  • Sitting in Service, a matched volunteer providing free respite opportunities
  • Group Sitting in Service - free group respite sessions for the cared for in stimulating safe environments
  • Peer support groups and forums
  • Delivery of carers awareness training to groups and professionals to raise awareness of carers needs 
  • 24/7 Peer Support Helpline

Our organisation works collaboratively and in partnership with a number of organisations including Lancashire County Council, East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, Lancashire Care Foundation Trust, GP surgeries, Age UK, Dementia Alliance, Alzheimer's society, local education, employment and training providers including schools colleges and the local university.
