Objectives

Camp Kernow is a not-for-profit organisation which operates an award winning and innovative off-grid environmental adventure camp reconnecting children with nature and inspiring sustainability through summer camp experiences.

During school term-time camp hosts school residential visits while in the summer holidays, it hosts summer camps for children from across the UK and beyond. Camp Kernow aims to inspire and educate the children it hosts about sustainability and the natural environment through hands-on experience, adventure and exploration in the heart of Cornwall. Camp Kernow aims to raise children's awareness of the challenges of climate change, educate them about ways in which they can make a positive impact and leave them feeling empowered and inspired. 

 

Activities

During their stay children experience a different, more sustainable way of life. Harnessing renewable energy technologies and employing sustainable systems including composting toilets, reed-beds, a solar powered water pumping and filtration unit, rainwater harvesting, solar thermal panels and biomass-fueled showers, the camp enables children to understand and experience first-hand a new way of living off-grid in balance with nature, it’s ecological systems and natural resources.

Children take part in a programme of exciting and unforgettable summer camp experiences which get them outdoors exploring the natural world. Activities such as wild food foraging, firelighting & campfire cooking, kayaking, bushcraft and much more. Camp Kernow works with up to 850 children each year.
