Objectives

Through campaigning, representing, and supporting, everything we do is to better the community of students at Cambridge University.

We are:

  • The university-wide representative body for students
  • A federal body made up of college student unions (aka JCRs and MCRs)
  • Democratically-led

Our Mission is to cultivate a university community where students can motivate progressive changes to the educational experience that students have at Cambridge and to level the opportunities available to all wanting to study and achieve in their time here.

Activities

We work with Cambridge Students and fight for them.

How do we do it? Through representation, support, and training.

REPRESENTING

Cambridge SU represents Cambridge students at an institutional, local and national level. We ensure that the voice of Cambridge University students is heard at all levels across the university. We attend meetings, support other reps, and provide briefings so others can engage in up can coming issues.

Our Presidents sit on the Council and is a trustee of the University of Cambridge.

SUPPORTING

We’re here to support all students at Cambridge! Be that through helping run a campaign, highlighting an issue they care about or helping resolve an issue in their college.

In our commitment to supporting students, we run a Students Advice Service. This is a service that provides all Cambridge University students with free confidential, independent and impartial advice. They can help with anything from:

• Academic-related issues
• Homesickness and culture shock
• Personal issues
• Disciplinary issues
• Bullying/harassment
• Mental health issues
• Welfare concerns
• Taking time out from studies (Intermission)
• Resolving disputes
• University & College regulations

TRAINING

Another way we are committed to helping students is by providing numerous training sessions throughout the academic year. These include sessions for:

• Welfare Officers
• Access Officers
• Sports Clubs
• Societies
• Women’s Officers
• College Committees
• Faculty Reps

And much more!
