Objectives

Relieving financial hardship among people on low incomes or on benefits in Cambridge and the surrounding area by providing them with furniture, electrical goods and other household items at modest prices. Whilst Cambridge generally is an affluent area, housing costs are very high, and there are many pockets of deprivation.

Helping to reduce the nation's waste by promoting community re-use rather than disposal at a household waste centre.

Helping those who are socially and economically excluded (due to unemployment, youth or old age, health problems, mental health issues or learning difficulties) by offering volunteering opportunities.

Activities

Operating from a warehouse in Cambridge, we have a van that collects good quality unwanted furniture, electrical and other household  goods. Those households that meet our income criteria can register as "members", or can be introduced by referral bodies (CAB, Housing Societies, other charities, etc), and can then buy these goods at prices that are well below those in the shops and normally below those in high street charity shops.
