Camara is an international charity and social enterprise that uses technology to deliver 21st century skills, and as such improve education in disadvantaged communities around the world.
Our vision is a world-class technology-enabled education accessible to all.
Our mission is to transform education using technology to empower disadvantaged students.
Camara is a registered charity in Ireland, the UK and the US. The hub network has grown to include three computer refurbishment hubs (Dublin, Belfast and London) and seven education hubs (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Lesotho, Haiti and Ireland).
We support children and young people, teachers, and schools across all the countries in which we have educational hubs. Last month, we celebrated 1m digitally literate children supported by our training courses, support packages, eLearning centres, and technology. Our impact is that by enabling access to digital by our beneficiaries, they will enjoy an improved education and improved life chances, whatever they decide to do.
We design educational programmes with digital at their heart, then deliver these appropriately tailored for the countries that we work in, supplemented by lower cost technologies that we refurbish, recycle and deliver in those countries. The London Resource Hub is a source of donated technology and also a centre for fundraising in the UK.
