BCP helps people with money problems. It provides face-to-face, telephone and online money advice services, a form-filling service (Benefit Buddies), and an award-winning financial capability service (Money Buddies). There is also the nationwide Money Buddy Network. These services are particularly essential at the moment, and will be increasingly so, as levels of personal debt rise.
BCP is funded by the Money Advice and Pensions Service, Leeds City Council and the Big Lottery Fund. It offers clients advice on income maximisation (saving money), help with benefit and grant applications, referral to specialist agencies, and introduces clients to tools they can use for themselves, eg, benefit checking. Clients are offered debt advice when it is needed. BCP cooperates with similar agencies.
