Objectives

Burgess Road Library is Southampton's largest community library, supported by Southampton City Council, but managed entirely by volunteers. Our library is well used by local residents, and offers a wide range of books and resources for borrowing, including a much loved collection of children's books. With the support of our invaluable volunteers we can ensure that our local community retains its local library, preserving a free, safe and welcoming public space that is open to all.

Activities

Burgess Road Library opens four days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday), welcoming thousands of visitors per year. Each month we issue more than 1,000 books for borrowing, and help locals access library stock from across Southampton with our inter-library loans. We provide a free community space for reading, meeting, and independent learning, and offer regular activities including story time for children and English lessons for adults.
