Objectives

Counselling changes lives. We work to promote the role and relevance of the counselling professions in improving psychological well-being and mental health. We promote and develop safe, ethical and competent practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

Counselling changes not just the lives of individuals, but of families and communities. Our desire for social justice determines everything we do and guides our relationship with our members and the public, as well as commissioners and government.

It’s why we champion the counselling professions as a viable choice for people. We know counselling works.

Activities

We advocate the role and relevance of the practice of the counselling professions in improving psychological well being and mental health, and promoting social justice, in our contemporary and diverse communities. We promote ethical practice, influence decision makers, publicise the growing evidence base for counselling and set and uphold high standards for our members. Our Register is accredited under the Accredited Register programme set up by the Department of Health and administered by the Professional Standards Authority.
