Mission
As a member-led organisation we extend solidarity and work equitably with people seeking asylum and experiencing destitution, through accommodation, advice and creative community involvement.
Vision
We work together to end the destitution of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK, and to create greater awareness, in the UK media and the population as a whole. of the humanity and gift of asylum seekers and refugees.
Accommodation - We provide accommodation through our men's house for 10 people and we have 20 hosts who open their homes for asylum seekers and refugees
Solidarity Fund - We pay £30 per week for members that we host
Welcome Centre - We provide, breakfast, lunch, ESOL, Sewing, barbering, arts and volunteering opportunities in different parts of BHN on a Monday i.e. cooking, serving, kitchen clear up and also clearing up in the main hall and cafe area. We currently have around 120 people that come into our drop-in on a Monday.
Member Development: Teaching English, Maths, referral to other organisations to develop their skills in community interpreting, arts, First Aid, Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 and any other skills that are required.
Advisory Board: We have an advisory board which is made up of members and they report directly to the board of trustees at BHN. We aim to ensure that the voices of all our members is heard and that their needs and concerns are reflected in the strategic plan of BHN.
