Bristol Energy Cooperative develops renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, with and for the benefit of the community.
Established in 2011 by volunteers from a number of community energy groups in the city, today BEC has over 10MW of installed solar PV and 100kW of battery storage assets under community ownership – which could power the equivalent of 3500 typical homes.
We have over 1500 member investors, and have raised £15m through community share and bond offers, commercial loans and loans from social funders. We’ve ensured more than £20,000 per year energy bill savings for our community
partners, and channelled over £350,000 directly into community benefit.
