We are a charity, nursery and pre-school run by a board of trustees who are largely parents. The Playhouse has been running for nearly 40 years, offering support to parents, carers and their children in a home-from-home setting which nurtures their development and understanding of the world.
This is an exciting place to be part of as we are always developing new projects and reflecting on our practice. We offer a variety of different opportunities for our children which they may not otherwise be able to experience.
Staff work closely with children individually, in small keygroups and in large groups. Guided activities include, baking, cooking, gardening and construction/DIY. Children can freely move through several areas, choosing from a wide range of activities: construction, art and crafts, writing, role play, sand, water, cosy reading corner and two large outdoor spaces. Children can chose to play with a large covered sand pit, water table, a variety of scooters, bikes and prams, large wendy house, climbing frame with slide, musical instruments, painting, mark making tools, puzzles and much more. Plus an additional woodland space that the children enjoy on a regular basis.
We run trips to local places to widen children's experiences such as to the city farm, playparks and open spaces as well as inviting people in to run drama and music workshops, explore and look after animals and wildlife.
