Objectives

BHT is a housing association and a homeless charity that helps thousands of vulnerable people in our community by supporting them in making a positive change to their lives. We provide essential services across Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne and Hastings, as well as elsewhere in Sussex. We see it as our role to both challenge the causes of homelessness, poverty and marginalisation and to deal with the consequences. BHT’s mission is to combat homelessness, create opportunities and promote change across Sussex. Last year we prevented 949 people from becoming homeless, and 7,853 people used our services or were accommodated in the homes we provide.

Activities

BHT’s First Base Day Centre provides food and hot showers as well as critical advice services to get rough sleepers back into work and find a place they can call home. Other vital services include mental health support, addiction programmes, legal housing advice, employability training and much more.
