We help people who are homeless, drug and alcohol users and generally, people at risk of offending. We help them through transitions in their life by providing trained volunteer mentors.
Mentors meet service users once a week for about 16 weeks. They provide friendly and consistent support, helping people to make use of the expert services that are already available.
Many people who have problems or who are at risk of offending have difficulty with officials, bureaucracy and filling in forms, particularly on the internet. This may be because of practical difficulty with reading and writing or because of suspicion and lack of confidence. Friendly consistent support can make the difference, especially during a period of transition.
We recruit, train and support volunteer mentors and match them with service users who have asked for help - mainly in the area around Islington in North London
