Bridging communities has been recognised by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Sir Warren J Smith KCVO KStJ JP, for serving the community during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Bridging Communities was set up by chair Javed Rehman to tackle the lack of connectivity between grassroots and strategic organisations, thereby enabling vulnerable and marginalised communities to have a voice and access decision making bodies.
Mr Javed Rehman, Chairman of Bridging Communities commented:
"It is an honour to be recognised by the Lord Lieutenant for the efforts of Bridging Communities to continue serving disenfranchised and vulnerable communities during the singular challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic. Our hope is that this recognition can inspire others to get involved and help all of our communities."
Javed is also on the board for Action Together and an independent advisory group member for Health Watch. As well as other roles he does with Manchester University, Public Health England, BABCP Equality SIG just to mention few.
During recognised that it was imperative that local communities were connected with the larger concerns in regards to understanding they fully comprehended government messages. Bridging Communities ensured that those that required further assistance were connected with the appropriate services and also ensured food parcels or appropriate help was given. Whilst in the background he has constantly been challenging in background, the equality agenda with statutory services at local level and at GM level being part of the Greater Manchester Equality Alliance.
We have recently moved to a new location post covid, we are still in the process developing new activities and program of events
