Objectives

Founded in 2004, Break The Silence is a registered charity in Scotland (SCO36263) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (SC341157), providing a range of tailored, professional support options for people affected by sexual trauma, aged 13 years and above in East and North Ayrshire.

We at Break The Silence understand that every individual is different.  We will listen and work collaboratively with Clients at their own pace.  We facilitate positive change through healing to challenge the effects of sexual trauma and assist post-traumatic growth.

We offer professional counselling support for partners and family members of people affected by sexual trauma as we recognise that sexual trauma can also negatively impact partners and family members.

There is no cost to access our services. Funding is secured to cover the costs of our services through local authority contracts, Trusts and Foundation grants/awards, fundraising activities and donations to the charity.

Activities

Break The Silence operate a hybrid model, offering services remotely through; telephone counselling, asynchronous (email) counselling, video counselling and video EMDR through the NHS Near Me/Attend Anywhere platform and offering face to face in person support through outreach locations. We continue to work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
