Objectives

Bourne Education Trust (BET) is a successful multi-academy trust made up of 19 academies (plus a further 6 associate schools), across both primary and secondary phases in Surrey, Hampshire and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Specialising in supporting schools to improve, BET continues to grow a community of high performing schools with the highest aspiration and dedication to achieving the best outcomes for their learners.

Its main emphasis is on ensuring that each school is a great local provision for the community that it serves. By working together, the Trust ensures greater effectiveness, efficiency and capacity that results in as large a proportion of resources supporting frontline services as possible. The Trust prides itself on being one connected organisation working for the good of each other and the pupils that it serves.

To support its work, BET is recruiting two non-executive directors (trustees) with executive leadership and either education or financial experience to join its board.

Activities

The key challenges for the board over the next 12-24 months are to ensure that the Trust consolidates its position as a leading educational provider in Surrey, Hampshire and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames through being a trusted member of the community – providing an inspirational education experience which is transformational for all of those involved in both delivering and receiving this. This includes:

  1. Delivering post COVID-19 learning to ensure that the children’s educational and social development is not impaired.
  2. Maintaining and improving standards across all schools in the Trust and ensuring that Ofsted inspections are graded at Good or above.
  3. Continuing to grow the Trust through the addition of schools with complementary profiles.
  4. Maintaining a strong financial position to enable investment in key areas to enhance the educational experience for all children across the Trust.
  5. Ensuring that CPD helps staff to be highly skilled in their roles.
