Objectives

The Blair Project exists to make Motorsport more inclusive, affordable and accessible to young people aged 8 - 24 from disadvantaged communities and create pathways to rewarding careers as drivers, mechanics and engineers or in STEM related industries. in 2016 we are piloting a schools kart challenge in Greater Manchester where pupils will get to Maje first 3D printed karts which they'll test and race at Three Sisters Racing Circuit. We want to roll this out nationally.

We will also be running Girls in Motorsport, the UK's single biggest initiative to get more girls racing in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and close the gender gap in Motorsport . It is funded by Cheshire Community Foundation.

Activities

Collaborate with local partners such as Fix It UK, Wigan & Leigh College, Manchester University and BPA Auto Services in Leigh to name a few, to deliver the following:-

ProtoGP Schools Kart Challenge Pilot - aligned to the National Curriculum 5 x junior and secondary schools in Wigan and Manchester will be supported to computer design and make their own race karts using the latest digital fabrication equipment at Fab Lab. And then test and race them at Three Sisters Racing Circuit in Wigan. The 3D printed karts will be showcased at MOSI as part of European City of Science.

Student Race Team MSVT Championships - we will be entering a race team staffed by student mechanics and engineers from Wigan & Leigh College and drivers from The Blair Project in this circuit racing championship staged at some of the most prestigious circuits  in the UK like Brands Hatch. The team will race Honda Civic Type R car, guided by a team of experienced Motorsport technicians and experts.

Girls in Motorsport is a 12 month programme providing fully funded racing for 10 x girl racers in the Cheshire Karting Championships at Hoooton Park Kart Circuit in Ellesmere. In addition to being provided with karts and Racewear, the girls will receive expert coaching from Charlotte Eyre, the Motorsport ambassador for US Girls, a Sport England initiative.
