We promote and support the collective community development of green, open spaces across Birmingham. By harnessing the energies of local people and equipping them with insight, introductions and access to fundraising, these community groups play a huge role in the continued existence, maintenance, and improvement of our green spaces, as well as contributing to the development of new spaces and efforts to enable more people to benefit from them. These groups are entirely volunteer run, and our support helps them to work more effectively. They have a much greater impact when they are coordinated and we act as an anchor organisation providing professional advice, making connections, bringing local groups together, accessing expertise, facilitating peer-to-peer learning and increasing their impact. We have over 140 different member groups all of which protect and care for a local open space.
We help residents interested in looking after their local open space or park to come together, adopt a set of governing rules and open a bank account.
