Objectives

The Big Help Project (Knowsley Foodbank) is a local charity with two clear aims: to feed the hungry in Knowsley, and to work with people who are in poverty to help them overcome that poverty and move on to a better future.

In the years we have been operating, we have worked with hundreds of clients-some of these clients have come to us once, with a one-off crisis, whilst others engage with us long-term, accessing support from our additional services such as Jubilee Debt Advice or Next Steps employability support.

Whatever our role has been, we are honoured to have the opportunity to support people in our local area at a time of crisis in their lives.

The Big Help Project is a faith-based organisation. We are committed to helping those in need, whatever their beliefs or views, without reservation or judgement. However, we will always challenge, through word and deed, any ideologies that perpetuate poverty and injustice, and in doing so bring to life God's instruction to

Speak up for the people who have no voice,

For the rights of the down-and-outers!

Speak out for justice, stand up for the poor and destitute!

Proverbs 31: 8-9

We believe that the existence of foodbanks is the most visible and fundamental manifestation of poverty and social inequality. Knowsley Foodbank is committed to providing support to those in food crisis for as long as there is a need, and will continue to work with clients to improve individual lives, whilst working towards, and praying for, the day when there is no longer any need for a foodbank and food is within the means of all.

Feed the hungry, Overcome poverty and assist people on to a better future.
