Objectives

Bexhill Community Land Trust (CLT) is a Community Benefit Society, registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, which aims to further, in a sustainable manner, the social, economic and environmental interests of people who live and/or work, in the Bexhill area by:

  • Acquiring, developing and stewarding land and other assets
  • Promoting community-led initiatives, such as housing, community facilities, workspaces, renewable energy and sustainable land management projects

CLTs are non-profit, community-based organisations run by volunteers to address the needs of their local area. Our main focus is on building new, affordable homes for local people.

Activities

The Trust has been given an option by Rother District Council to renovate and extend one of Bexhill’s finest Edwardian homes - Cemetery Lodge on the corner of Turkey Road and St Mary’s Lane - to provide much-needed high quality affordable housing for local people. In addition to refurbishing the Lodge, the Trust will develop additional homes in the large overgrown garden.
