Objectives

Beat the Cold is an independent charity founded some 25 years ago to deal with the issues of affordable warmth and fuel poverty. The agency works across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, and immediately neighbouring areas to help and support vulnerable and low income households.

Activities

  • Skilled and caring advisers work personally with clients in their own homes.
  • Operates a dedicated telephone advice line and single point of contact. All the Infopoint telephone facilities at the Royal Stoke University Hospital have a direct connection to Beat the Cold.
  • Training - Beat the Cold is an Accredited Continuing Professional Development provider.
  • Has extensive knowledge of grants and other assistance available to clients.
  • Provides effective signposting with follow up.
  • Has extensive and long established relationships with many organisations including Councils, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Health and Wellbeing Boards. 
  • Has won awards - eg Energy Impact Awards 2016 for the Saving Lives with Solar Project.
