Battle Scars is a small 100% survivor-led and run charity supporting people of all ages and genders affected by self-harm (people who use it, their friends, families and professionals who support them). We provide peer support services, training to professionals and a wide range of resources. Our aim is to make sure nobody struggling with self-harm has to fight alone and to break down the stigma surrounding self-harm. Our definition of self-harm is any harm done to the body or mind, external or internal, with short or long-term effect. Our focus is on managing self-harm, which can lead to stopping, but more importantly to provide a sense of belonging and the safe spaces to work on oneself and find a way forward.
We run face-to-face, virtual and online peer support groups, support groups for family and friends, a first contact phone service, training to professionals on self-harm or eating disorders and provide various printed and online resources.
There are no assessments, no complicated referral processes, no waiting.
