Objectives

Basingstoke East Scout District is just one small part of the UK Scouting Family with a membership of nearly half a million young people and over 115,000 adult volunteers.

Basingstoke East Scout District is one of three districts covering the Basingstoke area. The district has eleven groups, most having Beaver (6 - 8 yrs), Cub (8 - 10 1/2 yrs), and Scout (10 1/2 - 14 yrs) sections. There are also two Explorer (14 - 18 yrs) sections in the district.

The district comprises, Basingstoke town centre, Black Dam, Chineham, Eastrop, Lychpit, Oakridge, Old Basing, Popley, South View and the Villages to the south east of Basingstoke.

Activities

Our young people are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme including traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking, as well as a wider spectrum of adventurous activities, from abseiling to zorbing. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there are a number of badges and awards that the young people can gain to recognise their achievements.
