Objectives

The North Worcestershire Basement Projects (operating as The Basement Project) is a registered charity, founded in 1998, which provides a Drop-in Centre and Floating Support service, and Food Bank, for young people up to and including 25 years of age, in and around Worcestershire who are homeless or facing homelessness.

Our Mission is to provide services that are shaped by and for young people, which enable them to meet their aspirations; to live responsibly and, where possible, to live independently; to overcome challenges; to increase their confidence and self-reliance; and to contribute to their communities.

Our vision is a society where young people have the skills, knowledge and confidence to live independently; to achieve their aspirations; to overcome the disadvantages they face; to meet the challenges they face; and to live responsibly, with self-reliance and involvement in their local communities.

Our service is county wide across Worcestershire.

Activities

The Basement Project has two main areas of delivery, the Drop-in service, delivered from our main office on Hanover street and a growing number of er sessions around the county; and the Floating Support service; where we go out to support young people in their homes and the community. Some of the team work across the two areas to offer support to young people with a wide variety of issues relating to their housing situation such as dealing with possible evictions; prioritising debt; living on a budget; to family mediation and emotional and physical well-being. We offer family mediation, hypnotherapy and counselling support and if we cannot help we will signpost to other services and professionals. We have established a Food Bank which offers support to young people and their families.

We also go into schools to talk to groups of students about issues relating to homelessness and relationships as well as offering one to one support.
