Our charitable objectives are to advance the public's education in and improve via live music access to 16th-19th century classical music. We offer workshops in schools, work with amateur choirs, provide concerts in rural communities and run Come and Play days for amateur musicians, young people and music teachers. Our programmes allow children to experience live music who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. Many of our audience members in our rural concert series are not able to travel to concerts outside of their community. Our rural concerts enable them to enjoy live music once again. They also bring together communities, with tea, cake and the chance to chat after each concert. For amateurs, young people and music teachers it can be hard to access specialist knowledge concerning early music. And yet this knowledge is important to their continuous personal development, as historically informed performance has become absorbed into the mainstream and knowledge of it is expected at many levels, from student exam preparation to orchestral auditions. Studies have shown continuous learning to be particularly important as people age, and we enjoy sharing our expertise with choirs, adding to their learning experience.

We run Come and Play days for amateurs, young people and music teachers interested in learning more about historically informed playing. We offer workshops in schools, aimed at and drawing particularly upon the objectives of KS2. Our Baroque & Beyond initiative takes live music events to rural communities that don't otherwise have live music. Each event takes place in a venue central to the community and consists of an hour of music (with spoken introductions to each piece) followed by tea, cake and the chance to chat to the performers. We also accompany amateur choirs across the North West and are committed to ensuring financial and physical accessibility to all of our activities
