Objectives

Barnet Refugee Service is an independent registered charity working in partnership with individuals and agencies to improve the quality of life and promote the physical, social and mental well-being of refugees and asylum seekers. We work in the London Borough of Barnet and surrounding boroughs, helping to reduce health inequalities, social exclusion and poverty and enabling integration. We support over 1,200 refugees and asylum seekers each year through our ‘Integrated Holistic Model of Support’.

Activities

Our services are designed to support and develop the mental health and life chances of vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers living in Barnet and surrounding boroughs, to reduce their social isolation and improve community cohesion. They achieve this by helping our clients to develop their skills, increase their resilience, improve their wellbeing, and enhance their self-esteem. Barnet Refugee Service provides access to training, offers counselling and advice, provides psycho-social activities and delivers group work, in addition to encouraging clients to volunteer. Our services work in an integrated fashion and support each other.
